Dog Soft Toys

Dog toys come in many different varieties including plastic, rope, rubber, and fabric. For puppies and older dogs, soft toys are a great choice because they may have little teeth when they are young or bad teeth when they get a little older. Rubber and plastic may hurt your dogs teeth and some dogs form emotional bonds with their soft toys. Soft toys come as plushes with or without squeakers inside, canvas toys, and items made from fleece.

Soft dog plush toys are a favorite no matter what size your dog may be. These come in all kinds of assortments and many of them make noise. Dogs love to tear around the house with these toys in their mouth and squeak them over and over to get your attention. Usually the dog will want you to tug on the toy or give it a hefty toss across the room. Many of these soft toys are very durable and don't have any seams exposed for your dog to tear into. When they get dirty you can simply toss them in the washing machine. Some of the newer varieties come with special pockets for hiding treats or replacing chewed up squeakers.

Canvas is very strong and is used for dogs that are a little on the large side. Canvas toys aren't as soft as a plush but are often a mixture of both. It may be a plush duck with canvas sewn into the feet and beak for extra chewing fun.

Eventually, all soft toys will end up being too dirty to keep or just be completely destroyed. You should keep an eye on the ones that squeak or make other noises because dogs can rip out the noise makers and swallow them. This could lead to an expensive vet bill. It's a good idea to check them regularly for rips and tears that might allow your dog to get to the stuffing and noise maker. If you are good with a sewing machine, you can easily repair minor rips and tears so if your dogs favorite toy gets pretty ragged, you can fix it right up.
